British coach Minichiello suspended after complaints from several athletes

Federation British athletics,UK Athletics announced the temporary suspension of the coach Toni Minichiello, who prepared the Olympic medal Jessica Ennis-Hill, while various complaints of women athletes are investigated.

In a statement, UK Athletics specifies that “it has no alternative” but to publicize this suspension, applied some time ago, after the English coach “broke the terms” of it, by continuing with his activity despite being prohibited.

The Federation explained in a note issued on Monday that the investigation into “their behavior ” is “ongoing “, which began after receiving “complaints from female athletes” and until now had not been made public “in the interest of all involved.

“In light of a recent significant development, U K Athletics believes it is important to issue a statement to clarify the status of Minichiello “, who “was seen training athletes at facilities in Sheffield in clear violation of the terms of his suspension”, indicates the organism.

The federation emphasizes that any person suspended while an investigation is carried out “is innocent until proven guilty”, but specifies that it would not impose such a measure if it did not think that the accusations against him could be “serious”.

UK Athletics says it does not expect to make any further comment until the situation is resolved, either with a lifting of the suspension or with the filing of charges.

Minichiello, 55, coached Ennis-Hill for the 2012 London Olympics, where the athlete won the gold medal at the heptathlon , as well as other world titles in 2009, 2011 and 2015 and a silver medal at Rio 2016.
