Until the closing of the Olympic ranking by World Athletics, many athletes had to wait and see if they could book their tickets for Tokyo. Today 8 Belgian athletes received some good news.
Imke Vervaet in the 200 meters, Anne Zagré in the 100 meters hurdles, Fanny Smets in the pole vault, Noor Vidts in the heptathlon, Robin Vanderbemden in the 200 meters, Robin Hendrix in the 5,000 meters and Kevin Borlée and Jonathan Sacoor in the 400 meters are the lucky ones and will soon be part of the Olympic Games.
Many other compatriots fell out at the last minute. Rani Rosius (100 meters) and high jumpers Claire Orcel and Thomas Carmoy were only 1 place short.
Also Eline Berings (hurdles), Vanessa Sterckendries (hammer throwing), Philip Milanov (discus throw), Soufiane Bouchikhi (5,000 meters) and Dylan Borlée (400 meters) are just not among them.
