A case of death in a factory fire in Rupganj

A case has been registered in connection with the death of workers in a fire at a factory called Lily Chemical Co. in Rupganj, Narayanganj.

A victim’s family filed the case at Rupganj police station on Saturday night.

The accused in the case are factory owner AKM Selim, manager Abdul Baten, electrician Rafiqul Islam, customs officer Sabrul Islam and supervisor Kauser Habib.

On the night of March 29, a fire broke out at Lily Chemical, a shoe glue factory in Golakandail area of ​​Rupganj. At that time 9 workers of the factory were trapped and burnt.

After rescuing them, Sheikh Hasina was admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Akul, Mujahid, Sajeeb and Bayazid died while undergoing treatment.

The workers complained that the accident took place due to lack of fire extinguisher in the factory and high quality combustible material on the way out. The affected families and locals have demanded a fair trial.

Rupganj Police Station OC AFM Sayed said necessary steps would be taken after proper investigation.
