Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Calista Lynch, a current high school senior from South San Francisco, California, has announced her commitment to the early decision process at New York University beginning in the fall of 2023, where she intends to join the swimming & diving team,
“I am so excited and honored to announce my commitment to the ED application process at New York University! I cannot wait to continue my academic and athletic career at NYU! I want to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for all of their support throughout this process. GO VIOLETS!💜”
Lynch swims year-round for her club team, Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics, and competes for her high school, El Camino. She is a fairly versatile swimmer, specializing in back, breast, and IM.
Best times (SCY):
100 breast- 1:05.23
200 breast- 2:18.23
100 back- 58.66
200 back- 2:02.30
200 IM- 2:06.87
400 IM- 4:25.39
During a North Texas senior meet in December of 2021, Lynch swam to best times in 4 events, which is where many of her current personal bests hail from. She has shown consistent improvement over the last several years, having improved at least 2 seconds in all her speciality events in consecutive years.
As a high schooler, Lynch has already swum times that would score points at Division III NCAAs. At the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, the NYU women finished 13th with 117 points. Lynch’s current best in the 400 IM would have finished 8th at these championships. Lynch would have the potential to score in several other events as well, but would likely need to decide between the 200 breast and 200 back, as they are very close to each other on the final day of competition and would be a difficult double to complete.
At their conference meet, the NYU women finished 3rd behind Emory and UChicago. Their best finishers in Lynch’s specialty events were Julianna Sosnowski in the 200 IM (2nd-2:04.62), Sosnowski in the 400 IM (4th-4:25.57), Jolie Lefauve in the 100 breast (16th-1:07.14), Jessica Flynn in the 100 back (1st-53.95), Caroline Gjerde in the 200 back (5th-2:01.93), and Candice Saxod in the 200 breast (9th-2:23.05). Most notably, given Lynch’s best time in the 200 breast, she would have finished 2nd in this event. She would have qualified for the A final in 5 out of her 6 best events.
Lynch is the first in her class to announce her commitment to the application process at NYU.
