A mother of a five-year-old girl let the youngster cut her hair after she discovered that he was already cutting it.
A Collin County, Texas, mother named Valerie was “shocked” when she saw her now eight-year-old daughter using baby scissors to cut her locks, SWNS reported.
The mother-of-two allowed the girl to continue with the scissor work, seeing that the “damage was done”, but later confirmed that her daughter was happy with the results.

A week later, a stylist convinced little Lexicon to get a pixie cut, SWNS said.
The girl has not cut her hair since, but parents Valerie and Bryce, both 37, let their daughter use her own style and even experimented with make-up to “express herself”.
This young Texas girl chopped off her locks at age five during the COVID pandemic when she was home from school, her mother said. “The damage was done. I was shocked,” said the mother. (SWNS)
The mother told SWNS, “I went downstairs to check on her, and her head was on a trash can” as she was getting her hair cut.
The mother added: “I could already see the damage was done. I was shocked.”

She also said, “But I wasn’t going to be embarrassed or feel bad. I let him keep cutting.”
“I wasn’t going to shame her or make her feel bad about it.”
Then the mother said to the girl, “Let’s stop.”
As they looked together in the mirror, the mother told her daughter, “If you want, I’ll take you to the salon and we’ll fix it,” she told SWNS.

But the girl turned and said to her mother, “Why should I fix (when) the perfect?”
The mother related to SWNS: “We made sure she didn’t know how to cut other people’s hair. We just let her express herself.”
Blame the lockdowns on COVID?
Mother Valerie said the haircut episode happened in August 2020, when the girl was home from school due to pandemic lockdowns.
“His desk at school was next to my desk at work,” said his mother. “He was learning how to cut at school and doing guided cutting exercises. (And then) he decided to cut the string.”
“I realized it wasn’t a terrible thing.”
The mother said she didn’t notice at first because her daughter was in a video meeting with the teacher.
“That’s when I realized her hair was everywhere,” her mother said.

Mom continued, “I realized it wasn’t a big deal.”
The girl decided to take out the scissors again in October 2020, and cut off her shoulder-length brown hair.
Mom Valerie said, “I take a lot of family photos and it was before” they took the photos, SWNS also reported.
She worried about how she would “train” her daughter out of this habit.
The mother said she told her daughter, “That’s what you’re going to be in them, you make it.”

Then the mother became enlightened, and took out a magazine full of pictures of different hairstyles.
Together, they both looked at the pictures.

Mum Valerie said: “She saw a pixie style and thought it was cute. She hasn’t cut her hair since.”
The mother said she shared the story of her daughter getting caught cutting her hair, but wants others to know that her reaction to the incident wasn’t necessarily “the right way.”
