Imran convicted of serious treason: Nawaz

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif has accused Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan of “serious sedition”. This information was given in the report of Pakistan’s The Dawn newspaper on Monday.

Nawaz called Imran and his associates conspirators for rejecting the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition in the Pakistani parliament. He said Imran was a powerful man who had trampled on the constitution.

The no-confidence motion against Imran was rejected by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri on Sunday. Later, on Imran’s recommendation, Pakistan’s National Assembly was dissolved by President Arif Alvi. This means that the country will have to hold new elections in the next 90 days. With this, Imran thwarted the attempt to remove him from the post of Prime Minister. However, opposition parties have already approached the court against the decision.

Nawaz responded by tweeting in the wake of yesterday’s incident. He said that Imran Khan gives more importance to his ego than country and nation. Everyone involved in this conspiracy is guilty of serious treason.

Nawaz was the three-time Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was convicted of corruption. Pakistan’s Supreme Court has declared him ineligible for the post of Prime Minister. The court also ordered him to resign as party chief. He has been living in London since November 2019.

Nawaz’s brother Shahbaz Sharif. He is the president of PML-N. He was the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, which was dissolved yesterday.

Nawaz has vowed to hold Pakistan accountable for its disrespect and the sanctity of the constitution.

Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz, vice-president of PML-N, also reacted strongly. He said in a Twitter post that no one should be allowed to distort the constitution of Pakistan to save his own mattress.

Addressing Imran Khan, Maryam Nawaz further tweeted that if this insane and orthodox person is not punished for this crime, then wild law will continue in this country after today (Sunday).
