Last time’s runners-up could not win against Morocco

Last year’s runner-up Croatia took to the field today in their first match in the ongoing Football World Cup in Qatar. Luka Modric’s side stumble against Morocco at Doha’s Al Bayat Stadium. The Croats left the field with a goalless draw in the ‘F’ group match.

In the 17th minute of the match, Croatia’s forward Ivan Perisic had a great chance to score.

But his left-footed shot went over the bar. Modric took a long-range shot just before the first half, narrowly going over the bar. Shortly before that, the Moroccan goalkeeper Yassin Bono stopped Nikola Blasic’s great shot.

Croatia created two chances after the break in the 51st and 65th minutes. In the 51st minute, Mazrawi’s header was caught by the Croatia goalkeeper. After 14 minutes, Achraf Hakimi’s right-footed shot from outside the box was saved by the Croatian goalkeeper.

In the end, neither team could see the goal. The match ended in a goalless situation. As a result of this draw, Morocco remained unbeaten in their last six matches.
