Mets’ Brett Baty continues to rack up hits — and misses — in spring training

Here are some nuggets from the Mets’ spring training Sunday:

The hiccups keep coming

With two more hits — including a double — in a 7-1 win over the Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Fla., Brett Baty leads the Mets in the Pomelo League with eight hits.

…And mistakes too

Baty also committed another error at third base, the third of the spring.

I looked at it

Also in the last game before the WBC, Jeff McNeil had one more strikeout, and a first down strikeout.

“He smelled a hit there,” said Buck Showalter, who said McNeil made it 3.9 seconds into the game.

Monday’s program

The Mets are off and will be back at it on Tuesday when they face the Astros in West Palm Beach, Fla., with a new-look roster thanks to the departure of the WBC. Carlos Carrasco will start at 6:10 p.m. in Palm Beach
