The university administration has temporarily expelled the 11 students of Jagannath University who were detained on suspicion of being Shibir. They were expelled on charges of undermining law and order, including undermining the country’s sovereignty. In a press release, the students were accused of damaging the country’s sovereignty, tarnishing the image of the country, degrading law and order and inciting fear among the people with anti-government slogans.
The press release said that they were suspended from Jagannath University until they were re-appointed as they had tarnished the image of the university by creating anarchy in the country through various subversive activities centering on the great Independence Day on March 26.
It may be mentioned that the Kotwali police arrested the students on suspicion of being part of a raid on a mess in Dhupkhola area of Gandaria police station on March 24 at midnight. They are in jail at the end of remand.
