Andres Gimenez will be in Cleveland for a long time, at least until the Guardians decide to trade him.
The former Mets prospect agreed to a seven-year, $106.5 million contract extension on Tuesday with an option that could include an eight-year, $128 million deal, according to Joel Sherman of The Post.
Gimenez, 24, also received a $4 million signing bonus.

The Mets’ key trade for Francisco Lindor in 2021, Gimenez played his first full MLB season last year and earned an All-Star nod, slashing .297/.371/.466 with 17 home runs, 26 doubles, 69 RBI, 20 steals and 66 runs at second base while winning a Gold Glove.
He finished sixth in American League MVP voting.
Gimenez, once one of the Mets’ top prospects, worked alongside Amed Rosario, Josh Wolf and Isaiah Greene for Lindor and Carlos Carrasco.
The Mets gave Lindor a 10-year, $341 million contract extension.

While the Guardians clearly weren’t going to go for Lindor if that was the territory, they’re trying to lock some of their cores into cheaper deals.
As reported by Athletic, the team has discussed contracts with Rosario, starter Triston McKenzie, outfielder Steven Kwan and reliever Trevor Stephan.
Cleveland signed star Jose Ramirez to a seven-season contract extension last year worth $141 million.
