Independent University Bangladesh digital trading lab at IUB

Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lankabangla Securities Limited (LBSL) for launching Digital Financial Trading Lab at University level.

The agreement was signed on Sunday at IUB’s own campus in the Bashundhara residential area of ​​Dhaka. SBSL Managing Director Mohammad Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and IUB Vice Chancellor Tanvir Hasan signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.

The trading lab is being set up as part of IUB’s School of Business and Entrepreneurship’s Industry-Academia Collaboration Initiatives. Under the supervision of LBSL specialist officers and IUB finance department teachers, selected third and final year students of the university will be able to learn the activities of Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges in this lab as part of their investment and portfolio management course. These include opening and managing BO accounts, trading stocks and transactions, and market analysis. In addition, IUB students will have the opportunity to use LBSL’s web portal and some of their own trading software.

Abdul Hai Sarkar, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB, said: That is why the distance of universities with different sectors of the country’s economy such as financial institutions has to be reduced.

Mohammad A. Moin, Chairman, LankaBangla Securities Limited, said that the capital market of a country is closely linked with its industrialization and economic development. Lankabangla’s new partnership with IUB will pave the way for greater cooperation beyond the capital market.

IUB Vice Chancellor Tanvir Hasan said, “The size of our country’s capital market is small. There are still some problems in the small capital market. There is no substitute for increasing the knowledge and skills of investors to overcome these problems. In this way, they will be able to better understand the risk areas before investing.

Also speaking on the occasion were IUB Trustee Touhid Samad, Lankabangla Securities Limited CEO Khandaker Safat Reza, IUB Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan, School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) Dean Associate Professor and Meherun Ahmed and Professor Meherun Ahmed Etc.
