A Utah State football player is recovering in the hospital after suffering a “sudden non-traumatic cardiac arrest” during spring practice Thursday, the university announced Friday.
Josh Davis, a redshirt freshman from California, collapsed on the field and was taken to Logan Regional Hospital before being transferred to McKay-Dee Hospital.
He was said to be in critical condition, but was upgraded to good condition the next morning. According to the school, “he was taken off medical life support and is breathing on his own.”
“Davis received initial critical care and was stabilized at Logan Regional Hospital before being transferred to McKay-Dee Hospital, where the critical care team continued treatment with therapeutic hypothermia to lower his body temperature to maintain his neurological function,” the school said in a press release. let go
The university later posted a photo of Davis surrounded by his family at the hospital as he gave a “thumbs up.”
