Olympic Games – Tokyo 2020: Ait Said, the beautiful story

Yesterday evening on the France 2 plateau, the flag bearers of the French Olympic Team were revealed, they will be Clarisse Agbegnenou and Samir Aït Saïd, Antibois. He becomes the first French gymnast to wave the flag at the head of the procession.

At 31, the resident of the OAJLP Antibes is living a waking dream. He will be part of history on July 23 at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo. All the more so, and this is a first, that it will be the very first mixed pair of flag bearers, to respect parity. Before experiencing this unique emotion of the Opening Ceremony, the gymnast will certainly remember 2016 and the Rio Games. During the competition, following his impulse on the horse jump, the landing is missed, he opens to the square tibia and fibula.

He begins a long, very long rehabilitation, he changes his preparation, loses his dad to whom he had promised a medal, gives birth to a daughter, sees the Games postponed because of the health crisis, an eternity therefore since Rio. But, in 2019, he is reassured, already, by climbing on the podium of the Worlds in Germany, a third place synonymous with qualification for the Olympics. The miracle is back, going from nightmare to dream in 5 years, what if that was the Olympic spirit?
