Rut Castillo achieves Olympic place in rhythmic gymnastics for Mexico

Mexican gymnast Rut Castillo won the Olympic place for Tokyo , within the Pan American Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship that takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Castillo started off top spot in the All Around after winning 91 thousand 500 points, followed by Brazil with 89,000 Barbara Godoy and Natalia Azevedo 250 84 000 550.

While Karla Díaz finished in the fourth place with 77 thousand 550 and her compatriot Ledia Juárez , eighth place with 71 thousand 950.

In the classification of clubs, Castillo led the competition with 23,700, followed by the Brazilian Bárbara Godoy with 23,450 and the national Díaz ranked third with 21,800.

Regarding the ribbon, Castillo obtained the first place with 21,100 , followed by the Brazilian Bárbara Godoy with 20,600 and the Argentine Sol Martínez with 19,500. While Díaz was seventh with 17,150 and Juárez achieved 15 thousand 950.

From the beginning of the competition, Castillo had an outstanding performance and with the firm intention of seeking the Olympic quota, so after two rounds (hoop and ball) he remained in the first place. And this Saturday I complete the rounds of clubs and ribbon so as not to leave the place of honor in AA.

Thus, Mexico will participate for the first time in this sport within the Olympic Games . While in team AA, the first place went to Brazil, followed by Mexico and the United States. This Sunday the finals will be held and the medalists will be known in each of the rounds.
