Kariem Hussein and Léa Sprunger convince at the Swiss Championships in Langenthal over 400 m hurdles.
The Swiss championship title over 400 m hurdles was the prey of Kariem Hussein – and this in an absolutely convincing manner. The 2014 European champion completed the race in 48.84 seconds – thus achieving the best time in 4 years and at the same time undercutting the limit for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The 32-year-old came up to four tenths of his personal best, which he set in 2015 and equalized in 2017.
In the women’s race over 400 m hurdles, Léa Sprunger secured the national title in 55.16 seconds. For the Vaudois, who started the season late due to complaints with the Achilles tendon, the time also meant the season’s best performance.
Wilson and half army over 200 m top
After he had to give way to Silvan Wicki over 100 m, Alex Wilson won the Swiss championship title in 20.84 seconds over the double distance the next day. Cornelia Halbheer prevailed in the women in 23.38 seconds. Mujinga Kambundji did not start.
