The Ciudad Deportiva Gran Canaria was the scene this weekend of the last outdoor track competition of the 2021 season. Now cross-country competitions will take over, before the arrival of winter. A total of 49 appointments made up the poster of the combined tests control held at the facility in the capital of Gran Canaria between Saturday and Sunday. Athletes from the sub 16 category to veterans participated; in addition, the 10,000-meter Gran Canaria Championship was held, which was awarded by Airám Sarmiento.
In the women’s absolute heptathlon, Anais Cazo won, with a total of 4,500 points; the Aragonese, from the Club Alcampo Scorpio 71, expressly traveled from the Peninsula to participate in this last competition.
As for the male sub 20 decathlon, Tenerife’s Iker Marco Rodríguez, from Aguer, won (4,532 points). Miguel Palancar, from Madrid’s Moralzarzal club, won at U18 with 5,202 points. In the veterans category, from M-50 to M-59, Eduardo Medina, CAI Gran Canaria athlete, won with 5,245 points.
In the female sub 20 heptathlon, the victory corresponded to Ana Paredes, from CAI, with a total of 2,676 points, while in the sub 23 heptathlon her clubmate Natalia Herrera led with 2,554 points. Alba Ramos, also from CAI, would win the sub-18 heptathlon with 3,812 points.
The female sub 16 hexathlon was the winner of the Tenerife Athletics athlete Arona, Isabel Werknesh Ruiz who added 3,459 points, while, in the male sub 16 octathlon the winner was the Majorero athlete of the Maxoathlon club, Angelo Iaccarino with 4,270 points, followed by his teammate, Ricardo Lema with 4,062 points.
