Ball State Picks Up 2023 Commitment from In-State Aidan Biddle

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Choosing to make a short hour-long drive to continue her swimming career, Aidan Biddle of Noblesville, Indiana has announced his decision to attend Ball State University this fall. Biddle is currently finishing his senior year at Noblesville High School and has done his club swimming with the Noblesville Swim Team.

Back in February, Biddle represented Noblesville High School at the 2023 IHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championships, swimming the 100 breast as well as being a member of his school’s 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. In the breaststroke, Biddle hit a lifetime best of 55.29 during finals, claiming a bronze medal in the event. Both relays that Biddle was a member of finished in the B-final as Noblesville finished 14th overall as a team.

Biddle traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina back in December to compete at the Winter Junior Championships – East, racing both breaststrokes as well as the 200 IM. While he was off of his lifetime bests in the 100 breast and 200 IM, he hit a new best time of 2:07.42 in the 200 breast, finishing 76th overall.

Top SCY Times

100 breast – 55.29
200 breast – 2:07.42
200 IM – 1:54.82
400 IM – 4:28.93

Biddle will arrive at the perfect time, as Ball State’s top breaststroke performer of all time will be entering his senior year this fall. Current junior Joey Garberick has been one of Ball State’s most successful performers of all time, winning the 100 breast at the Mid-American Championships all three years and holding the program record by over two seconds. Garberick is also the Cardinal’s second-fastest performer of all time in the 200 breast and 50 free. He’s also the first member of the program to win three straight conference titles in over thirty years.

Outside of Garberick, the breaststroke events were a weak point for Ball State last year, with only one other member of the team scoring points in either race. With his lifetime best, Biddle would have qualified for finals in the 100 with the 11th fastest time. He’ll need to improve his breaststroke range to make finals of the 200 with it taking a time of 2:03.45 to earn a second swim in 2023.

Ball State has been on the rise over the past few seasons. The team’s performance at the 2023 MAC Championships marked their second-highest team score since 2005. The team also left the meet having set twelve program records.
