SwimMAC’s Freddy Klein (2024) Sends Verbal Commitment to Cal

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Freddy Klein, a high school junior from Charlotte, North Carolina, has announced his verbal commitment to the University of California, Berkeley for the 2024-25 school year.

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of California, Berkeley. I would like to thank my family, friends and SwimMAC coaches for all of your support. Thank you to Coach Durden, Coach Bowe and Coach Marsh for giving me this opportunity. Go Bears🐻!!”

Klein is a junior at Charlotte Country Day School. He does his year-round swimming at SwimMAC Carolina, where Cal’s associate head coach David Marsh was CEO and Director of Coaching for 10 years before going on to establish and coach at Team Elite.

This past summer, he had a strong long course season with PBs in the 200/400/800/1500 free, 200 breast, and 200/400 IM. At Cary Sectionals, he clocked lifetime bests in the 200/400/800 free, 200 breast, and 200/400 IM, finishing no lower than 16th in all his events. At Speedo Junior Nationals, he improved his 400 free and 400 IM times and added a PB in the 1500, coming in 6th in the 1500 (15:42.62) and 19th in the 400 IM (4:27.62).
