‘A fantasy season’: Taking load of BYU’s heavenly olympic style events and crosscountry 2021 missions

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named the BYU ladies’ program as the NCAA Division I Program of the Year

Before we put BYU’s 2021 olympic style events/crosscountry seasons to rest, it’s a fun chance to glance back at what simply occurred. By any standard it was an exceptional run, from the NCAA indoor track titles in March to the NCAA crosscountry titles a couple of days after the fact to the NCAA open air titles in June to the U.S. Olympic Trials seven days after the fact.

Who says as much? The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named the BYU ladies’ program as the NCAA Division I Program of the Year, an honor given to the school with the most noteworthy joined completion in the NCAA titles for crosscountry and indoor and outside track. BYU was the solitary group in the country to complete in the best 10 in the titles of every one of those games — first in crosscountry, seventh in the indoor titles, tenth in the outside titles.

“That one is enormous,” says Diljeet Taylor, the co-head of olympic style events at BYU. “It was practically a fantasy season (for) a mentor.”

The men’s program came quite close to inside .5 of a state of winning a similar honor.

“That is an astounding year,” says Eyestone. “I accept we had the most or second-most competitors addressed at the Olympic preliminaries.
